last weekend i attended the Organization of Labor Assistants for Birth Options & Resources Doula Training seminar in dallas. suffice to say, it was an inspiring and eye-opening experience, and as a result i intend to start using this blog as a place to chronicle some of the current birth facts/statistics that i find particularly interesting.
i’ll start with a simple acronym: VBAC. this stands for vaginal birth after cesarean, a practice which used to be seen as very dangerous - but has since been proven to be significantly less risky than multiple cesarean births. i was a VBAC baby - 10 pounds 10 ounces, born safely and without complication. and that is very literally where this all started for me.
